Welcome to the NEW Official Blog of Ryerson University’s Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Services (DHPS). We are transitioning away from Tumblr to the Ryerson Server Blog format.
DHPS is an office on campus that works with members of the Ryerson community to promote a study, work and living environment free of discrimination and harassment. The Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Policy is based on the Ontario Human Rights Code and states that every person has the right to equal treatment without discrimination on the basis of:
- race
- ancestry
- place of origin
- colour
- ethnic origin
- citizenship
- creed
- sex
- sexual orientation
- age
- marital status
- same-sex partnership status
- family status
- disability
- gender identity
Long story short, if you ever feel that you’re being discriminated or harassed based on any of the above terms, give us a phone call, shoot us an email, or drop by our office POD-254.. But that’s not all we do! We also offer FREE (that’s right, free and isn’t free stuff is always good??) workshops and training sessions based on the topics mentioned above.
But wait there’s more! We also have a Resource Room that contains books, magazines, papers, and videos on a variety of human rights topics. We work with many campus based committees – that you can get involved in!!! Here are the names of a few of the committees: the Black History Awareness Committee, the Positive Space ALLY Committee, the Cultural Awareness Committee, the December 6 Memorial Committee and the No Barriers Committee.
We also have a presence on Facebook and Twitter where we post interesting articles about all things related to diversity, equity and human rights, photos of the events we host or attend and interesting Ryerson-based articles.. We also hold contests on Facebook and Twitter, so join the conversation and you can win great prizes!
